Summary

Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation is an established treatment for wide range of malignant and non-malignant conditions. Non-infectious pulmonary complications still remain a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in these patients. Treatment of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation recipients with non-infectious pulmonary complications is still challenging, treatment armamentarium and strategies, currently, are not adequate for patients receiving hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Future trials are needed for better description of the pathogenesis and complete diagnostic criteria as well as effective therapeutic approaches to non-infectious pulmonary complications in the hematopoietic stem cell transplantation recipients. This report will outline the incidence, risk factors, pathogenesis, clinical spectrum, and discuss the current approaches to management of non-infectious pulmonary complications of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
